From the Editor
The
fifth volume of the periodical ORBIS LINGUARUM is an important event and the editor – the Foreign Language Teacher
Training College in Legnica can take pride in it. Since the first volume of the
periodical which was issued in December 1994, the reality has surpassed our
expectations. The reception it has received from literature specialists,
language researchers, university lecturers, as well as college and secondary
school teachers has confirmed that our efforts to create one more forum for
exchanging ideas and experience have been successful. The need for describing
and sharing knowledge and skills, which is so strong in the people cherishing,
contributes to the abundance of materials for the consecutive volumes of the
periodical and confirms its usefulness among philologists.
The Editorial Board of ORBIS LINGUARUM is astonished not only by the amount of texts delivered to Legnica, but
also by the variety of topics they refer to, as well as by the effective
combination of theory and practice they exemplify. As a result of it, everybody
can find something appropriate for them in each volume. Furthermore, if the
Reader discovers a new realm, it is definitely a good reason for us to feel
proud and satisfied. Development in the sphere of learning and teaching a
foreign language requires constant efforts to adjust and refresh our
professional practice; a philologist – no matter the specialisation he
represents –has to constantly broaden his knowledge.
The periodical ORBIS LINGUARUM, as the very name suggests, has
been circulating all over the world since the first edition, and it has
gradually reached famous and respectable authors from various academic centres
in Europe and in the US, creating thus a unique opportunity for the Reader to
get acquainted with the results of research carried out by prominent
international authorities.
On
behalf of the Editorial Board I would like to thank all the people who
encourage us to continue editing the periodical and we hope to meet their
expectations by publishing in ORBIS LINGUARUM texts presenting the contemporary “ State of the Art.” in the
field of foreign language pedagogy, linguistics and other disciplines.
The
Editorial Board want to express special thanks to the generous sponsors and the
students of FLTTC in Legnica for assisting in editing the texts for printing.
